Fun Online Reading Games
for Kids

Try using online reading games for kids to get their interest.

Fun reading games promote reading readiness and pre-reading skills for tots.

They can help build reading and phonics skills for student readers.

Most teachers do not advocate using online games as the main reading resource.

However, I think teachers would agree that online games provide an interesting supplement to your children's home school or classroom learning.

Teaching methods vary greatly (from teacher to teacher and from book to book) so make sure that any games that you use are complementary to your child's other learning, to avoid his becoming confused.

Games to Teach Reading

  • ClickN' Read Phonics - is a very popular phonics program for children. There are 100 lessons that start with simple sounds for vowels and consonants. The ClickN'Read Phonics program is actually a complete phonics program, designed for children in kindergarten through first grade. It includes typing and keyboard skills as well.

One nice feature of the program is that you can track each of your children with reports and records of how they are doing. Great for busy mothers, you can set them up each day and then walk away, knowing that you can check on their progress later (through the online reports about their activities).

You can try the online reading games program to make sure that you like it, because it has a money back guarantee. And, knowing that money is tight for many these days, I like the fact that you only pay once—not every year, as is the case with many online programs. In fact, you

They have a money back guarantee and you only pay once! You can use your one-time payment for all your children and can even pass on your membership to another family when your done!

  • Reading Robots - This is a great collection of printable fun reading games that were designed by a teacher (who is also a mother). The games games have been tested and are children's favorite choices. Reading Robots games can be used at home, for homeschools, or in the classroom.

Thes games are great for all kids, and they also work nicely for children who are reluctant readers or those who are struggling with reading.

  • Genius Maker Program - a very professional program that challenges babies and young children to develop greater intelligence, develop reading and math skills, be more creative. Guarantees academic success and nurtures a passion for learning. Based on 40 years of research—with results!

  • Making Math More Fun - lots of printable games, printable board games, etc. Written by a teacher, using games that were successfully used in the classroom. If your child is lagging behind in math, why not consider using games to make math more fun?

  • PBS Kids - WordWorld is great for preschool and kindergarten kids. Word Girl is a great show for older kids. It helps improve vocabulary, while being silly at the same time. Between the Lions is a show and game site for reading skills. And, of course, there is Reading Rainbow!

There are, of course, more online reading games that your children would enjoy. These are some of the best. Try them out and see how your children like them. They will improve their reading skills—while they are having a ball!
